Sturthwaite Nook is a coastal sea cliff composed primarily of Carboniferous limestone, formed around 340 to 320 million years ago through the accumulation of marine sediments. The cliff is notable for its exposure of fossil-rich rock layers, which provide evidence of ancient reef environments and contribute to the geological understanding of the region.
