Stùc Dhubh reaches a height of approximately 691 metres and is part of the rugged landscape of the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll and Bute. It is composed primarily of ancient Dalradian sedimentary rocks, typical of the Scottish Highlands, and lies within an area of historical military and strategic significance.
