Structure

An isolated post (L 0.43m; diam. 0.06m), situated in the drain face 0.63m below the field surface and set at a 60° angle. The wood was in good condition with surviving bark and had been worked to a wedge point with a metal tool. The piece is within moderately humified Sphagnum peat. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
