Castle Field holds a scattered stone pile where Bostock King purchased the lost fortress from the Earl of Kildare in 1622. The field still carries the name, preserving the shape of a building that no longer exists.
Unlocated castle within the townland of Ballykelly (Loeber 1988 vol. 1, 20). According to Loeber in 1622, Bostock King purchased the lands and castle of Ballinkelly [Ballykealy] from the Earl of Kildare. A pile of stones in a field known locally as 'The Castle Field' may represent the remains of Ballykealy Castle (pers. comm. Brian Pey 28 July 2009). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien. Date of upload: 23 May 2011
Ballykealy Castle was held by the Earl of Kildare before 1622, when it was sold to Bostock King. It is remembered as part of the early 17th-century land transactions involving Anglo-Irish settlers and the Kildare estate.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
