What is recorded here

Twelve feet of broken wood lie shallow in Offaly peat, some edges shaped by human tools. The pieces scatter without a clear line, inviting imagination to build a house, a fence or a ritual frame around nothing certain.

A small scatter (L 11.04m; Wth 0.59m; D 0.07m) of disturbed brushwood on the field surface. The relationship between the pieces, if any, is unclear Woodworking is present on some of the pieces. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
