Structure

An isolated, radially split, oak plank (Wth 0.2m; D 0.07m) orientated NNE-SSW in the drain face. The plank has been slightly disturbed by drain-cutting and is in poor condition. It is located within a pocket of well-humified Eriophorum and Sphagnum peat. It has been dendrochronologically dated to 1102±9 BC or later (Q9294) Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
