Structure

A band (Wth 0.87m; D 0.21m) of brushwood and twigs in the drain face. The wood is largely concentrated around the two slightly larger pieces of wood lying c. 0.23m apart. A small number of outlying pieces are also recorded, however. One piece has been cut to a chisel point. Wood species are of alder and oak. The site is situated in well-humified Sphagnum peat containing ericaceous remains and Eriophorum. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
