Structure

A spread (L 8m; Wth 8m; D 0.15m) of two roundwoods and three planks. The underside of one piece has been burnt. The relationship between the pieces is not clear and there is no common orientation. Two of the planks are radially split while the third plank is tangentially split. This scatter may be the remains of a more substantial structure. The species are principally of oak with one piece of birch recorded. The site is situated in poorly humified Sphagnum peat. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1993. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
