Structure

A dispersed arrangement (L 5.7m; Wth 2.4m; D 0.08m) of brushwood (diam. 0.025-0.052m) and a roundwood (diam. 0.061m) on the field surface. The end of the roundwood is worked to a chisel point; other pieces are broken, possibly by recent machine activity. The site is situated in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with some Eriophorum and unidentified root material. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1993. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
