Structure

A spread (L 0.89m min.; Wth 0.89m; D 0.13m) of brushwood on the field surface. While quite scattered, the pieces tend to be orientated N-S. The brushwood (diam. 0.016-0.056m) is in variable condition, having been subject to machine damage and desiccation. There is no evidence for a distinct structure. Woodworking is observed on two pieces and the use of metal tools is suggested. The site lies on moderately humified Sphagnum peat. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1993. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
