Structure

Thirteen pieces of mixed brushwood, laid two pieces deep, and a light roundwood (L 2.9m; Wth 0.29m; D 0.06m) in the drain face. Approximately half the elements are orientated NNE-SSW while the others are orientated NNW-SSE. The wood is widely spaced for the most part but a number of elements to the N are closely spaced and appear to interwoven. One upright element set at 50° angles may be a peg or indicate disturbance. The site is in poorly humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1998. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
