Structure

Two roundwoods and a piece of brushwood (L 1m min.; Wth 0.45m; D 0.1m) on the field surface. The elements are orientated NNE-SSW The S ends of all the pieces have been damaged by machinery but evidence for woodworking is noted on the N ends of the two roundwoods. The site lies on poorly humified Sphagnum peat. A roundwood (L 2.5m) with evidence of branch-trimming was identified c. 10m to the S of this site, apparently ex situ. It is uncertain if this roundwood relates to this site. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1993. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
