Structure

A small deposit (L 1.8m min.; Wth 1.29m; D 0.15m) consisting of, two closely laid brushwood parallel to one another and two possibly displaced set at oblique angles. The two parallel pieces are orientated NNE-SSW with one overlying roundwood orientated N-S. The remaining piece at the S end of the exposure is fragmented and orientated E-W. Where not machine damaged the brushwood (diam. 0.068-0.09m) is in good condition. The deposit may be the remains of a disturbed linear structure constructed of longitudinal roundwoods. It is in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with some ericaceous remains and fibrous roots. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2001. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
