Structure

An area of brushwood (diam. 0.012-0.055m) on the field surface (L 1.52m; Wth 1.1m; D 0.06m). The pieces are not regularly aligned but tend to be orientated approximately NE-SW. A number of pieces lie at angles ranging from c. 20-90°. A deposit of comparable wood is located within c. 1.5m of the site and may represent disturbed material from the site. There is evidence for woodworking and branch-trimming on a number of pieces. The site may be the remnants of a more substantial structure. Wood species include alder and hazel. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1993. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
