Structure

Strips of layered bark interspersed with mosses (L 0.78m; Wth 0.34m), with most of the bark laying upright. The bark was traced for 0.78m into the section face. A few twigs and a few pieces of light roundwood overlay the bark, at right angles. The material was located within well-laminated poorly-humified raised bog. The site was examined as it was thought to form part of a bark container. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
