Structure

A deposit (L 1.75m min.; Wth 1.86m; D 0.05m) of brushwood (diam. 0.015-0.04m), twigs and a possible upright. The elements are dispersed, lying 0.16-0.8m apart, but have a degree of regularity. Five pieces of brushwood are orientated NW-SE and the others run perpendicular to these. The possible upright is a piece of light brushwood set at 60º but this may be due to disturbance. The wood is in poor condition. A single chisel point is present. The site lies in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2002. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
