What is recorded here

Mairi and Caelach followed the red ribbon through wet grass when the survey marked a hidden structure. They found two wooden strips lying across peat like a small bridge that time had folded in half. Caelach touched one strip and saw a man carrying firewood across a bog in a storm. Mairi saw the same man drop his load and run home to save his children. The wood did not belong to a palace or a road. It belonged to one frightened father doing the best he could. They stood quietly beside it, honouring the ordinary hero buried under the moss.

Two irregularly laid pieces of brushwood (L 0.59m; Wth 0.29m; D 0.04m). The pieces (diam. 0.034-0.038m) are partially milled and fractured. The site lies in well-humified Sphagnum peat with frequent Eriophorum and is 3.4m S of SMR OF019-096----. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2002. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
