What is recorded here
Five brushwood pieces lie scattered in Offaly peat, perhaps once a parallel row before milling pulled them apart. They rest among Sphagnum and Eriophorum, small enough to dismiss yet sharp enough to imagine as a forgotten path, fence or marker. The wood has outlasted the hands that placed it, waiting for someone to notice what the soil has already half-erased.
Five pieces of mixed brushwood on the field surface (L 1.98m; Wth 0.48m; D 0.07m). The wood is irregularly laid, widely spaced and one piece deep. It is possible that the wood was originally parallel but has been displaced by milling activity. The site is in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2002. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
