Structure

A dispersed deposit consisting of a stake, a roundwood and four timber fragments (L 2.16m; Wth 1.19m; D 0.07m min.). The roundwood is horizontal but the stake and timber fragments lie at angles of 20º and 45º, respectively, probably due to disturbance. The wood is in a good condition. The timber fragments appear to have been a single piece originally, which was an outer tangential with metal-cut toolmarks at each end. This site lies in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum and ericaceous remains Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2002. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
