Structure

A collection of light brushwood (Wth 3.52m; D 0.42m) in the drain face. The pieces overlap each other at right angles with no clear structure or orientation evident. A number of pieces have metal-cut toolmarks. The site sits in moderately humified, woody, Sphagnum peat. It is one of seven sites in close proximity in a 19m long stretch of this drain face, including SMR OF015-165---- c. 0.3m above the site and SMR OF015-167---- 5m to the NW. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
