Structure

A small band (Wth 0.52m; D 0.09m) of light brushwood, twigs and roots in opposing drain faces. While root material, mainly of alder and birch, is abundant, the presence of a small number of hazel twigs suggests that the site is archaeological. The pieces are irregularly laid. The wood lies in a moderately humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
