Structure

Two pieces of light brushwood and a light roundwood (Wth 0.8m; D 0.19m) arranged irregularly in the drain face. The brushwood pieces were identified as willow and hazel, respectively. The wood is in poor condition as a result of machine damage and desiccation. The site lies in poorly humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat. It is one of seven sites in close proximity in a 19m long stretch of this drain face, including SMR OF015-166---- c. 0.3m below and SMR OF015-168---- 3.6m to the SE. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
