Structure in Gortnahoughtee

In 1943, turf cutting exposed several pointed wooden stakes, roughly set in a straight line and spaced about 15 ft apart; they were approximately 2ft in height. Close to one stake were 'fire remains' (UCC). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
