Structure

What is recorded here

A small structure was noted c. 20m to the NE of Teampall Bheanáin (GA119-009001-) and c. 15m to the E of a clochan (GA119-009002-) during the course of excavations carried out by Manning (1985, 105, 107). It was roughly rectangular in plan (4.6m N-S; 2.34m E-W) and had a rough face of large stones surviving to two courses in height on both of the long sides. The N end was open and the S end had some large boulders roughly aligned and a central gap (Wth 0.4m). There was loose rubble above the solid rock in the interior. It was unclear whether this was a rough building or a platform. No finds were recovered (ibid.). Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 11 May 2016
