Structure in Cahermacnaghten

Structure

What is recorded here

Situated c. 94m ESE of Cabhail Tighe Breac (CL009-001009-) in an area of limestone pavement and thin grass cover. Listed as ‘Clochan’ in the RMP (1996). A possible beehive hut was recorded at this location in 1996 (pers. comm. T. Coffey, SMR file). On inspection in 1998 this was found to be a subrectangular drystone structure (int. dims. 1.6m N-S; 1.7m E-W; max. H 1.8m). There is slight corbelling of the walls but it is too slight to be a clochan. An oval stone structure (CL009-001029-) lies 10m to the E and also appears to be modern.
