Toomaghera R.C. Chapel

Situated close to a road in an area of level ground. Listed as ‘Chapel’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). On inspection in 1998 this was found to be a late 18th century chapel. Toomaghera R.C. Chapel, Ballyconnoe North was built in the late 18th century, likely by a local Catholic community, and served as a place of worship during a period when Catholicism was suppressed in Ireland. Its survival and recorded history reflect the resilience of religious practice in the region.
