Balgatheran holds five truncated structures, including LH021-075----, scattered upslope from one another. They were domestic and ritual, judging by the Grooved Ware pots, flint scrapers, burnt bone and polished axe fragment recovered beside them. The road works exposed only broken slot trenches, yet the density of everyday and ceremonial remains suggests people lived, made tools and marked loss across that whole slope.

Discovered prior to road construction (Excavation Licence No. 00E0905). This structure was heavily truncated and excavation revealed only part of a slot trench. It and four others that lay some 100m upslope (see LH021-071----, LH021-080----, LH021-081---- and LH021-082----) appeared to have both domestic and ritual functions. A large assemblage of artefacts was recovered from the area of the five structures including 238 sherds of Grooved Ware which represented at least 23 individual pots, 30 flint scrapers, a large collection of flint débitage, a fragment of a polished stone axe and a small quantity of burnt bone.
