Stone trough in Aghawillin catches overflow from St Patrick’s holy well and gives the water back to a NNW-SSE stream. Its round stone body is small enough to touch on all sides, yet large enough to hold rain, river water and the memory of every basin that ever overflowed. The broken rim is not damage; it is the difference between a dead jar and a living one.

The overflow channel from St Patrick’s holy well (LE030-038----) runs into a small stone circular basin or trough (ext. diam. 0.54m; H 0.35m; int. diam. 0.41m; D 0.25m), the rim of which is broken at one side to allow the stream to flow out at a lower level and continue to a NNW-SSE stream.
