Stone sculpture in Unknown

This record is listed in the SMR (1989) as stone sculpture. It relates a fragment of carved stone recorded in illustration in Wood-Martin (1882, vol. 3, 510, Fig. 67). The caption of the illustration reads: 'Knight in full armour (sixteenth century) found near Drumcliff (size of stone, 16 inches by 12 inches.)'. No further details are given. The carving shows a figure, dressed in full body armour and spurs, with an axe-like weapon in his right hand and a sword at his left side, sitting astride a horse. To the right of the figure is a fragment of an inscription in five lines. The carving could have formed part of a tomb surround. The current location of the stone is unknown.
