Two pale busts of Cromwell and William of Orange stand in the Milltown lodge, their late 17th-century clothes carved in stone. They watch the farm buildings like stubborn guests who refused to leave the house.

This record was formerly classed as a 'stone sculpture' in both the SMR (1988) and the RMP (1998). However, this record covers two stone sculptures which, according to the index card for this record, are located at the lodge (CO007-037001-) at Milltown Castle (CO007-036001-). These 'stone sculptures' are referred to in the The 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork - vol. 4 North Cork' (2000, 657) under the entry (no. 14917) for a country house (CO007-036001-). The reference in the entry reads: '…three niches, two containing busts of men dressed in late 17th-century style; according to owner, these represent Oliver Cromwell and William of Orange.' Two similar busts (CO007-036001-) are located at the farm buildings associated with Milltown Castle. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
