Two stone busts sit hidden inside the farm buildings at Milltown Castle, wearing the polished faces of the late 17th century. They mirror a pair at the lodge, suggesting a deliberate display rather than a forgotten dump. The castle probably belonged to people proud enough to dress even its working rooms in sculpted grandeur.

This record was formerly classed as a 'stone sculpture' in both the SMR (1988) and the RMP (1998). However, this record covers two stone sculptures which, according to the index card for this record, are located in the farm buildings at Milltown Castle (CO007-036001-). These 'stone sculptures' are referred to in the The 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork - vol. 4 North Cork' (2000, 657) under the entry (no. 14917) for a country house (CO007-036001-). The reference in the entry reads: 'two niches contain busts similar to those [see CO007-037002-] at lodge'. The sculptures at the lodge are 'dressed in late 17th-century style'.
