Marianne touched the chipped nose and laughed because the head smiled back. She carried it from Lisnamandra to the castle kitchen, set it beside the soup, and waited to see whether hunger would show in its eyes. It did not blink, but her own hands trembled until she drank. The stone had taken no food, yet it had changed what she could face.

This apparently late medieval head is believed to have been taken from Trinity Island (CV020-077001-) (local information) and is now lying up against the NW wall of a modern dwelling-house. It has slightly bulging eyes, prominent ears, a partly chipped nose and smiling mouth. The chin has been broken off. The head is crowned with a plain band with foliate tips.
