What is recorded here

Aughnahoory holds a stone-faced rath from the early Christian period, its boundary still marking the land in County Down. The stones may have faced outward like a warning or inward like a room built for memory. Either way, the shape survived because people kept returning to it.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as STONE-FACED RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
