What is recorded here

Mnemo is an ancient stone circle on Ray Point, donegal, hidden under grass and memory. It is not a border, a cache or a warning. It is a place where human life clustered, marked and remembered. The chamber is empty, but the shape is still distinct. That is enough to identify the circle and answer the request.

A previous account (Boyle-Somerville 1909, 224-5) notes a 'prehistoric circle' on Ray Point. This survives as a low grass-covered mound, 10-11m in diameter, and composed of earth and stones. Its archaeological significance is uncertain. Situated on level pasture land c. 30m from the shore of Lough Swilly. Likely dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age, this stone circle may have had ceremonial or ritual significance, as was common with such monuments in prehistoric Ireland. Local folklore sometimes associates these sites with ancient burial mounds or fairy forts, though no specific traditions are recorded for this location.
