These steps form part of an interesting group with similar nineteenth-century paving schemes. Steps such as these are found in many location throughout the city, and contribute to the unique character of the city. The paving schemes utilised cut limestone, which in many cases has been replaced or covered with concrete. These steps are a particularly well maintained example, and retain well executed tooled limestone treads and risers.
