What is recorded here
Standing stone in Tracashel is a one-metre rectangular stone in County Cork, Ireland, set on a sunny terrace above Coolieragh Harbour. Gorse still tangles around its base, and small packing stones lean against its north side as if someone finished a wall and left it standing. The stone points east and west like a quiet marker across the harbour, perhaps guiding people, measuring light, or remembering a loss no longer spoken.
In rough gorse-covered pasture, on a terrace on a S-facing rocky hillside overlooking Coolieragh Harbour. This standing stone (0.65m x 0.4m; H 1m) is rectangular in plan and is orientated E-W. Packing-stones are visible on its N side.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).

Likely dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age, this standing stone may have had a ritual or territorial function. Its orientation and location on a prominent hillside suggest it could have been part of a wider ceremonial landscape, though specific folklore or use is not recorded.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
