Mountnorth holds a missing scratching stone, perhaps the reason people once believed the land could be read through skin rather than sight. The stone stood four or five feet high on a north-facing slope before disappearing around 1972, leaving behind a gap sharp enough to mark the memory of the place.

In tillage, on N-facing slope c. 77m WNW of possible standing stone (10190). According to local information, stone, c. 4-5ft high, removed c. 1972; regarded as 'scratching stone'.
