Mangerton Mountain rises to the south of a level pasture where a standing stone once watched the sky. Local memory claims the stone disappeared in the 1950s, leaving behind an empty place and a sudden absence in the landscape. The mountain still stands, but the stone’s departure turned the pasture into a question about what people chose to keep or lose.
