What is recorded here

One stone remains in Meenagory though maps once named two, leaving a ghost marker behind and a solid witness in front. It stands 1.48m high on pasture above Lough Swilly, tilted slightly across the valley like a finger pointing at water. The lost stone may have been taken, buried or simply forgotten, but the remaining one still holds the place in the mind.

A standing stone 1.48m high × 1.4m wide at base × 0.5m thick; NW-SE. There is a small cairn, probably field clearance, around its base. The 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch maps marked two stones here but the 3rd edition shows a 'Standing Stone' and a 'Standing Stone (site of)'. There is no visible trace of the second stone.
