Standing stone in Lifford, County Donegal: good land, wide views, no visible remains. The first map named it, the second forgot. People may have set stone there to mark horizon, boundary or memory; others may have taken it for walls, tools or fire. What is missing is not nothing. The land kept the shape of attention long after the stone left it.

Marked as 'Standing Stone' on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map and shown untitled on the 2nd edition. There are no visible remains. Situated on good land with extensive views. Likely dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age, such standing stones were often used for ritual, ceremonial, or territorial purposes. Local folklore sometimes associates them with ancient heroes, supernatural beings, or as markers for significant events.

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
