Knocknakilla held a three-foot stone until John Harrington broke it with fire in 1915. The owner treated ancient stone as ordinary fuel, reducing a marker older than memory to hot rubble. What the field gained by losing its witness remains unknown.

Broker (1937, 30) recorded standing stone in John Harrington's land '....in Pairc an Ghallain; broken with fire by owner in 1915. 3 feet high and 3 feet in girth'. Exact location not known.
