Standing stone

What is recorded here

In 1934 Bowman recorded a standing stone on J. O'Sullivan's land where a hole had been dug at the base and a dallan buried inside. Whether that was reverence or theft, the stone still stands in Glenreagh with a missing heart.
Bowman (1934, 459) recorded standing stone on J. O'Sullivan's land; 'A hole was dug at the base and dallan buried therein'. Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
