What is recorded here

Dysert holds three standing stones, including one measured at nearly three feet tall near an old ringfort. The main stone now evades identification despite a clear written description. That disappearance turns a forgotten field marker into a living puzzle, forcing anyone who seeks it to walk the land until the stone reveals itself.

Bowman (1934, 343) recorded standing stone c. 100m NW of ringfort (12466); 'In Mrs Hanlon's. 2ft 10in by 1ft 11in x 1ft 3in'. Exact location not known. Two other standing stones (9978, 9979) also recorded in this townland. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
