Dooneens holds a small standing stone beside ancient huts, perhaps half buried under pasture grass. It stands only fifty centimetres tall today, yet grass may be hiding the rest of its body. People may have set it there to mark a boundary, honour a loss or simply watch the huts from a distance. The stone still points upward while the land around it has changed from home to meadow.

Described by Quinn and Carroll (2010) as ‘a possible standing stone located in pasture land to the E/NE of the huts (39). It is a small stone measuring 0.5m in height. It is possible that the base of the stone is sod covered and that its original height is larger than the visible section.'
