Bere Island, County Cork: a leaning rectangular stone stands beside a hut site, facing the wide water and distant Mizen Head. It is not a grand monument, but a small marker set where the land breaks open to the bay. Perhaps someone lived nearby, watched the sea, and set the stone where it could be seen from the hut or the path. The stone still points across the bay like a finger remembering that the view mattered.

In rough grazing, on bog on a break on the S-facing slopes of Bere Island with a view across the mouth of Bantry Bay as far as Mizen Head. This standing stone (0.55m x 0.2m; H 1.3m) is rectangular in plan and is orientated NNW-SSE. The stone leans to the E and its upper half narrows towards the top.
