What is recorded here
Standing stone in Derreenataggart East, a rough square pillar leaning slightly northeast on the SE foothills of Miskish Mountain, has watched the blanket bog breathe for centuries. Seventy metres away another stone waits in the grazing land, as if the first had called its companion across the slope. Together they mark a line of attention rather than a boundary, inviting people to stand still, listen to the upland wind and remember that even empty ground can hold the shape of old human life.
In rough upland grazing, on a mantle of blanket bog, on a SE-facing slope on the SE foothills of Miskish Mountain. This standing stone (0.65m x 0.68m; H 1.22m) is roughly square in plan and is orientated NE-SW. The stone leans slightly to the NE. There is another standing stone (CO115-117----) c. 70m to the SW.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
