Standing stone in Corbally Beg

Situated at the crest of a NW-facing slope. Power (1907b, 320) records that an inverted vase food vessel and some unburnt human bones were found in a cist beneath a standing stone c. 1905 with a cremation pit nearby (Power 1907b, 320). Likely dating to the Bronze Age, the standing stone may have marked a burial or ritual site, supported by the discovery of a cremation pit and human remains nearby. Such stones often held symbolic or spiritual significance in prehistoric funerary practices.
