Standing stone in Coolbeggan East,coolbeggan West

According to Power (1952, 64) there was a standing stone (dims. c. 1.05m x c. 0.6m x c. 1.4m) in Coolbeggan East or Coolbeggan West. A folk tale related that it had been thrown from Carnglass Hill, c. 3km to the E, by Fionn Mac Cumhaill. It remains unlocated. Power, Rev. P. (1952) The placenames of the Decies. (second ed.) Likely dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age, the standing stone may have had ritual or territorial significance. Local folklore attributes its placement to the mythical figure Fiachra, suggesting a blend of prehistoric tradition and later storytelling.
