Carrowkilleen hill drops into grey bog and shallow valleys. Nephin Beg rises south of the summit, large enough to occupy half the sky. The stone stands beside that view, squat and unfinished, as if it had interrupted a sentence rather than completed one.

In pasture, located on the summit of a hill, which provides excellent views over the surrounding lowlying bogland, with Nephin Beg Mountain clearly visible to S. This standing stone is not indicated on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps. It consists of a squat, irregular-shaped upright boulder (L. c. 1.2m NNW-SSE; Wth c. 0.7m; H 1m).
