Standing stone in Ballynagaul

In pasture, on a slight ledge at the base of a SW-facing slope. An upright stone (H 1.5m; Wth 0.91m; T 0.6m), leaning slightly to the N, which is roughly rectangular in profile. Its long axis is aligned NE-SW. Parts of the stone have been worn smooth by cattle rubbing against it; they have also worn down the ground around the base of the stone exposing some packing stones. Dated to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, this standing stone may have functioned as a territorial marker or ritual monument. No specific folklore is recorded, but its alignment and positioning suggest possible ceremonial or astronomical significance.
